Easy Blog Photo
The Pukeko.
The pukeko is a New Zealand native bird. It liveÅ› in a murky wet muddy swamps or an estuary which is near the beach. The swamp is surrounded by reeds twigs that can be used to make make a nest to live in and care for its young . The pukeko has sleak black feathers and a bright Red bill that leads up to its a for a shield. It also has beady red eyes and stick like legs. The pukeko moves around by walking on land and and flying into the air. It's thin wings flapping against the air. It has frogs, eggs, small birds and worms to eat for dinner and other meals. Sadly this wonderful bird is endangered by many things like farmers swamps drying up and hunters. As you can see this is a wonderful New Zealand native bird and should not be harmed.
