The Pukeko by Aaliyah

The Pukeko.
The Pukeko is one of the native birds that you see around in New Zealand. A Pukeko is blue and black all around its body.It tummy has a little white circle undermc he Pukekos tummy.It is a little bit like a turkey but not as fat as a turkey. Pukekos have a dark red beak and pretty bloodshot eyes.It has a lot of feathers on its body.The Pukeko has 2 legs and 3 toes.It has a great blend of a red beak and it is blue and black all around it. Pukeko stay in a green bubbly cool swamp.The swamp is its home And it makes nests to keep the Pukeko safe.You can also find Pukeko by a lake or anywhere that has water and food.In the bubbly swamp you can find Reeds and sometimes mangrove trees to build their nest in. The Pukeko makes nests to look after its babies,Did you know that the mum and dad both take care of the nests and sit n the eggs to keep them safe and warm,So they both do their part to look after the eggs and chicks. The Pukeko eats Creepy crawlies,egg,frogs,insects,flys,rubbish and small birds.Pukekos Love eating these things.YUMMY.
